Risk-based evaluation of translations at IATIS Conference

In July 2018, the 6th IATIS Conference took place in Hong Kong. 250 scholars from translation science and cultural science met at Hong Kong Baptist University to discuss new developments and research in the field of translation and culture.

One of the panels covered translation quality and quality assessment. The topics included quality management processes at the DGT of the EU Commission, corpus analysis regarding the frequency of certain grammatical structures and cognitive effort of post-editing tasks. Within this panel, the RisikoScouts presented their model for “risk-based evaluation of translations”.

During the conference, the RisikoScouts could renew old and establish new contacts with scholars and translation scientists from all over the world. Highlights of the evening programme were the welcome reception with Chinese cultural performances and the conference dinner at the distinguished Gold Coast Yacht & Country Club.

The delegation from the University of Mainz/Germersheim was one of the largest.

Altogether it was a very successful conference and we are looking forward to the 7th IATIS Conference which will take place in Cyprus in 2021.
